Historical Atlas

The map below displays the sites of buildings, communities, and events that students researched in ARC337/637 in fall 2012. You can explore these studies by clicking on placemarkers.

This eight-week project built on the initial round of studies focusing on mills and plantations, testing the methods and developing the ideas from that round of work at a larger scale, within a broader intellectual framework, and with a regional focus. It is the major project of the semester. Each student chose a case study, site, or topic from the Erie Canal Corridor to research, interpret, and weave into a class-wide online resource: a selective atlas of early republican architectural history keyed to our region.
